Knut Haanaes
Partner & Managing Director, BCG Switzerland
Knut is a Partner in our Geneva office, recently transferring from BCG Oslo where he was Office Administrator from 2006-2010. He is the global leader of BCG’s sustainability initiative, where he is responsible for BCG's relationships in sustainability with MIT, the World Economic Forum and WWF. He started working at BCG in 2000 and is also a member of the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology and the Strategy practices.
Through his client work at BCG, Knut has accumulated extensive experience in a number of industries, including financial services, petroleum, consumer goods and retailing, technology and telecommunications. During the last years he has been involved in a large number of sustainability related cases with client all over the world.
Knut has a master’s degree in economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and a PhD in strategy from Copenhagen Business School. He was also a post-doctorate/visiting scholar at Stanford University, and held academic positions in strategy at IMD and the Norwegian School of Management. Knut previously worked in the Norwegian Government, where he was executive director of The Research Council of Norway and a commercial attaché at the Norwegian Embassy in Paris.
