What to Expect

All interns are assigned to client projects and given responsibility for particular portions of the work. They participate in case team meetings and interact with client teams, experiencing the day-to-day work of professional consultants, with many opportunities to interact with BCG principals and partners, and the people at BCG who may one day be colleagues! 

Lasting three months, an internship is an ideal “mutual fit” assessment—as you get to know the consulting business, BCG also gets to know you. Orientation and training sessions aimed at providing additional insight into the consulting profession are offered throughout the internship.

Succeed with BCG

As a Visiting Associate you will work on real projects and be mentored by BCG consultants, getting a true feel of the BCG experience and the life of a consultant. At the end of your internship, you will receive extensive feedback and a letter of reference. Successful Visiting Associates will be offered a full-time position upon completion of their degree. Several current members of the Swiss staff were former BCG visiting associates. All have cited the high level of responsibility and support that BCG provided, as well as the collaborative atmosphere of the Swiss offices, in making the decision to return for a full-time role an easy one.

Starting as a Visiting Associate

As you have direct client interaction as a Visiting Associate, we are quite demanding in our selection. Your chances to be selected typically rise when you:

  • Show a strong academic record

  • Are at least in the third year of your Bachelor program

  • Have spent some time abroad

  • Demonstrate an interest in business by perhaps completing an internship in this area

  • Have excellent knowledge of German and English. (French would be a plus.)
